About every one build

This year has seen unprecedented change in everyone’s lives and that includes us at Habitat for Humanity Canada and local Habitats across the country.

It’s become very apparent during these past few months that our work remains vital. During the pandemic, stay at home orders have been either recommended or enforced to ensure public safety. But not all our homes are healthy and safe. Many of the families we serve come from precarious housing situations, with issues like overcrowding, poor ventilation, mould, pest infestations, heating issues or unsafe communities. This is why we continue our work to build safe, decent and affordable homes and this is why we need your continued support.

We’re excited to introduce every one build, a four-week virtual fundraising campaign during the month of October.

Each week will have a theme, with emails, DIY challenges and video content supporting the following topics:

Week 1: Women Build

Week 2: Indigenous Housing Partnership

Week 3: Sustainability and International projects

Week 4: Every Youth Initiative

Join us from home with imaginative, creative building projects and #buildfromhome challenges. Check out the do-it-yourself activities to build your own laptop and phone stand.

  • Build your own laptop stand
  • With many of us working from home these days, anything we can do to make our new work spaces more comfortable and ergonomic is welcome. With a bit of wood and some tools, this laptop stand is a fun do it yourself project that’s also useful! Check out the instructions here and the how-to videos to help you along.

  • Build your own phone stand
  • This is another fun and easy to do DIY project. Challenge friends, family, or co-workers to build one and see who can decorate it best! Check out the phone stand instructions here and the step by step video.

We want our community to become your community! Share your creation with us using #buildfromhome and tag @HabitatCanada in your Twitter and Facebook posts.

Let’s build safe, decent and affordable homes for families in need!
