New for 2023 Walk Wednesdays

For the first time in the walk-a-thon’s history, we are going to start bringing walkers together once a week so participants can join their fellow fundraisers to get in some steps, speculate which team will raise the most for Habitat for Humanity Canada, and share a few laughs, all while getting closer to RAHB’s $50,000 fundraising goal!

Walk Wednesdays What You Need to Know!

What time do the walks start?

Walks will start at 10:30 a.m., so we suggest that you arrive about 10:15 a.m. so you can find parking and check in. However, watch for information and details each week in case the schedule is adjusted.

How long are the walks?

Most of the walks will be 3 to 5 kilometres in length.

Where are the walks?

Each week, we’re checking out a different RAHB market area.

I want to attend one of the Walk Wednesdays, do I need to register?

No but if you have time, please drop Saskia a quick email at saskiamw@rahb.ca if you plan on attending so she has an idea of numbers and she can notify people if any plans change about the walk.

I registered for the walk-a-thon, do I have to show up every Wednesday?

No but we hope you do as it’s a great opportunity to get out and get your steps in and see different parts of the RAHB market area!

Can I attend one of the Walk Wednesdays even if I’m not a registered walker?

YES but we hope that you can demonstrate that you have contributed financially to the walk-a-thon and/or to an individual or team that has registered.

**If you are not a registered walker, you must sign a waiver for each Walk Wednesday you attend.

Are children allowed?

YES children are allowed! Anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent/guardian.

Are dogs allowed?

We are happy to see four-legged friends joining our walks, but please remember to follow all municipal rules with respect to dogs.

What should I bring to a walk?

First and foremost, wear comfortable close-toed shoes! You should also dress appropriately for weather hats and sunscreen if it’s really sunny or lightweight jackets if fall comes early!

Equally important as good comfortable footwear is water for hydration!

What happens if it rains?

Depending on the timing of the rain, we may try to move the walk earlier or later. If it’s a severe downpour or thunderstorm, we may just cancel the walk in its entirety or try to reschedule by a day or two.
